Issue statement on 31st anniversary of USSR invasion
News Desk
PESHAWAR: On the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Taliban asked the US to immediately withdraw its forces from the country to avoid meeting the fate of the USSR.
A statement issued by the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and sent to the Afghan Islamic Press, The News and other media organisations, said: “As a last resort, US President Obama ordered sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan against the wishes of his nation and due to the pressure of the war-loving generals of the Pentagon. However, General Parker, the British military commander and deputy to US General McCrystal said that they have lost the initiative to the Taliban and that the Taliban are extending their control to more areas.”"

Afghanistan is knows as the graveyard of empires, and there has got to be a dam good reason for that!
ReplyDeleteyes, grave yard of empires. That should be emblazoned on every "westerners" lips.
ReplyDeletePenny, I was soo hopeful you'd comment on my SoHo post. I really really believe SoHo and Laurel Canton are integral aspects of understanding who the "elites" are. How they connect to the PTB. Identifying these blodd sucking vampires with fangs that ooze puss is step one to defeating them.
Pen,
ReplyDeleteWhat happened in Laurel Canyon during the 1960's, happened in SoHo during the 1970's. As fascinating as Dave McGowan's LC piece is,
I feel SoHo's story could be equally fascinating.
The intensity of the 1960's is reflected in LC but tha intensity actually increased during the 1970's. The photos of Allen Tannenbaum capture that hideous intensity at that SoHo Weekly News web site.
I just wish I could write and research like Dave McGowan because there is a real dramatic story waiting to be told.
