Uncle Sam protecting his property against the encroachments of his cousin John

Uncle Sam protecting his property against the encroachments of his cousin John
Complete Explanation: Northern fears of European intervention in the Civil War on behalf of the South are manifest here. Uncle Sam, in the form of a bearded Union soldier (closely resembling Abraham Lincoln), unceremoniously routs John Bull from a fenced garden where the latter has been poaching. Grabbing him by the scruff of the neck, Sam warns, "John, You lost your Non-interfering Principle. I'll lay it on your back again." The American wields a large stick "Principle of Non Enterference." John Bull has a handful of cotton plants, more of which appear at right, and wears "Armstrong's Patent" cannon on his legs. (The term refers to a type of English-made gun used by the Confederates.) The artist has hidden several Negro faces in his drawings of cotton plants here. A cock with the head of French leader Napoleon III watches from his perch on the fence at left. At right stands a large scarecrow from whose arms hang the lifeless bodies of Confederate general P. G. T. Beauregard and Confederate president Jefferson Davis. A plaque on the scarecrow reads, "All Persons Tresspassing These Premisses, will be punished according to Law." (click image for source)

Populist preacher William Jennings Bryan was thrice the Democratic nominee for President from 1896 -1908. The central theme of his anti-imperialist campaign was that America was falling into a trap of “financial servitude to British capital”.

This blog is inspired by my grandfather's books from the 19th century. Within these books, are glimpses of a "fire in the spirit" that is all but lost in America today. The mettle/determination of a different era blazes throughout. The grotesque misinformation and disinformation that deluge our sources of knowledge today (the propaganda runs dark & deep), drove me to these 19th century texts. I was searching, desperately, for some unadulterated truths. I do think I found a few precious gems. Below, a few poems and excerpts from poems. The tragedies and injustices we witness today occurred in the past. The only difference is, today, few see. In the early days of the Republic, a disciplined and educated populace actively resisted despotism. This defiance to old world tyranny is readily identifiable in these poems. Dig the title, "crowned bloodsuckers". Do we see anything, even remotely, resembling such a ferocity of spirit today?
To John G. Palfrey ( LINK ) There are who triumph in a losing cause, Who can put on defeat, as 't were a wreath Unwithering in the adverse popular breath, Safe from the blasting demagogue's applause; 'Tis they who stand for freedom and God's laws. And so stands Palfrey now, as Marvell Stood, Loyal to Truth dethroned, nor could be wooed To trust the playful tiger's velvet paws: And if the second Charles brought in Decay Of ancient virtue, if it well might wring Souls that had broadened 'neath a noble day, To see a losel, marketable king Fearfully watering with his realm's best blood Cromwell's quenched bolts, that erst had cracked and flamed, Scaring, through all their depths of courtier mud, EUROPE"S CROWNED BLOODSUCKERS,___ how more ashamed Ought we to be, who see Corruptions flood Still rise o'er last years mark, to mine away Our brazen idol's feet of treacherous clay!
SUGGESTED BY THE GRAVES OF TWO ENGLISH SOLDIERS ON CONCORD BATTLE-GROUND. These men were brave enough, and true To the hired soldier's bull-dog creed; What brought them here they never knew, They fought as suits the English breed: They came three thousand miles, and died, To keep the PAST upon it's throne; Unheard, beyond the ocean tide, Their English mother made her moan.
Stanzas on Freedom MEN! whose boast it is that ye Come of fathers brave and free, if there breath on earth a slave,Are ye truly free and brave? If ye do not feel the chain,When it works a brother's pain,Are ye not base slaves indeed,Slaves unworthy to be freed? They are slaves who fear to speak For the fallen and the weak; They are slaves who will not choose Hatred, scoffing, and abuse,Rather than in silence shrink From the truth they needs must think; They are slaves who dare not be In the right with two or three.

The link ABOVE contains one of the Reverend Martin Luther King's most profound but most overlooked speeches. This speech, in all probability, got him assassinated. In it he deviated from civil rights to anti-war. This anti-war stanch upset the Military Industrial Complex.

(Of particular interest to me and relevance to this blog, is the inclusion of an excerpt from a James Russell Lowell poem that MLK so generously and warmly ended his powerful discourse with)

Military Assassinates US Dissenters With High Tech Radiation

The film about war crimes using microwave weapons to neutralize and kill political activists and whistleblowers. The author has interviewed 200 targets who have been turned into human guinea pigs to perfect electromagnetic weapons and the science of behavior modification.

Part 2 is actually better. Watch it first if you are pressed for time.

The Conspirator (Crowned Bloodsucker's Agents)

No, Shylock—we did not come about the loan—we have money enough, and to spare, at home. But we thought, since our English brethren had come to be ruled by such as you, and your hirelings, younder, that we had better keep an eye on you.

Robert Redford’s film about Lincoln: “The Conspirator"

Background on Mary Suratt

My comment at a Variety piece about the film
I accuse
notice who is financing this pic...."is being financed by the American Film Co., a venture headed by online brokerage entrepreneur Joe Ricketts."
Ricketts is an alumnist of Creighton University, in Nebraska, a Jesuit school.
Hmm, I wonder what the film will leave out. **grin**

President Lincoln's assassin found a refuge in Rome!!

The great emancipator guided the ship of state through the most terrible storms ever to confront a nation. Traitors lurked everywhere both at home and abroad....John Surratt—the associate of assassin John Wilkes Booth—found a refuge in Rome before his arrest and return to the U.S.

World Prout Assembly: Am I a Heretic?

World Prout Assembly: Am I a Heretic?: "Am I a Heretic?"
I point them to the words of Ingersoll, that great man of reason, who said, "acting, as they believed, or pretended to believe, under the command of God ; stimulated by the hope of infinite reward in another world-- hating heretics with every drop of their bestial blood ; savage beyond description merciless beyond conception,-- these infamous priests, in a kind of frenzied joy, leaped upon the helpless victims of their rage. They crushed their bones in iron boots ; tore their quivering flesh with iron hooks and pincers ; cut off their lips and eyelids ; pulled out their nails, and into the bleeding quick thrust needles; tore out their tongues; extinguished their eyes ; stretched them upon racks ; flayed them alive ; crucified them with their heads downward ; exposed them to wild beasts ; burned them at the stake ; mocked their cries and groans ; ravished their wives ; robbed their children, and then prayed to God to finish the holy work in hell." They tell me I am a heretic and the same is in store for me here and in the hereafter. Am I a heretic? - Anwar Hussain

Definitely, "Go Underground Young Man"

This song haunts me. I remember it from way back in the early 1970's. I guess then, I was too immature to fully recognise and grasp the depth and breadth of it's dimensional force . (may the force be with you ;D)
Imagine, a pop culture song appealing to people's commonalities?! Alas, we witness a sea change reversal today. People's commonalities are being deliberately & maliciously obfuscated, in pop culture and everywhere else for that matter. (Divide and conquer)
Both, lyrically profound and melodically magical , I share it with you my blog readers. Enjoy!

US donated sniper rifles killing Israelis? « The Mideastwire Blog

US donated sniper rifles killing Israelis? « The Mideastwire Blog: "US donated sniper rifles killing Israelis?"
DM Ehud Barak had this to say yesterday on Public radio:

“[Barak] I reiterate: In the place where the incident took place, the fence is tens of meters inside Israeli territory. Therefore, even if we cross the fence, we don’t get into Lebanese territory. It is all a provocation. And anyway, they didn’t fire on the tractor, they fired on the battalion commander and the deputy commander who were standing along with a few people in an IDF outpost on Israeli territory a few hundred meters away. To make the story short, it was grave. There is no need to elaborate: The Lebanese Army carried out a grave act, the Lebanese Army and the Lebanese Government are responsible for it. It’s part of the recently escalating acts of provocation.”

The point that immediately comes to mind and that the Defense Attache and the Pentagon folks in general must be scrambling on is: Did the LAF use sniper gear supplied by the US to kill the Israeli?

Remember that this was a point of extreme controversy after Nahr al-Barid because, according to some reports, the LAF was granted sniper rifles BUT they had to be returned after the conflict – which really pissed off some LAF folks.

Some of the US press releases have, after that time, referred to the “same front line” weapons as US troops and one, if I remember correctly, did refer to sniper gear.

If the Israelis did indeed want to strike a good blow against LAF funding now winding its way to actual appropriation and transfer etc – well this incident is a perfect punctuation point…. Not that such a conspiracy would ever be thought of, much less executed….
