BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday exchanged New Year greetings and formally launched the Year of Chinese Language in Russia.

hmmm, that is quite interesting, the year of each others language in each others countries?

In it the long standing and historical hostilities between the two countries are cited as reasoning for them never uniting.
But then there never is such a great uniter as a common enemy?
