Hezbollah on Monday congratulated the Libyan people, who took control of most of the Libyan capital in their fight against Moamer Gaddafi's rule, for their "huge victory".

"Hezbollah congratulates the Libyan people and their revolutionaries for this huge victory against the tyrant (Gaddafi) after a long struggle and great sacrifice," Hezbollah said in a statement it issued on Monday.

The statement voiced hope the rebels’ triumph will be completed as soon as possible and that the Libyan people will be able to build a just country responsive to its citizens’ aspirations and hopes.

Hezbollah also called on the Libyan people to assist Lebanese authorities “looking into the disappearance of Lebanese Shia leader Imam Moussa Sadr and his companions, who were kidnapped by the tyrant Gaddafi.”
